Femtocells and health
Consumer health is always a top concern for the mobile industry. This is why Femto Forum members are designing their products to fully comply with the guidelines for human exposure to electromagnetic emissions issued by the International Commission on Non-Ionising Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) and other relevant regulatory authorities. Femtocells emit very low levels of radio waves (also known as radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic fields) when being used. The safety of radiowaves has been extensively studied for more than 50 years. Numerous independent scientific expert panels, health agencies and standard-setting organisations around the world regularly review this large and growing body of research. These organisations have all reached the same general scientific conclusion: no established health effects from exposure to radio waves below the limits applicable to wireless communications systems. In association with the Mobile Manufacturers Forum and the GSM Association we have produced a short brochure that explains these facts in more detail. It's available to download as a PDF. |
